The article contains the description of the potential of content and language integrated learning approach in teaching English in Russian schools. The main features of content and language integrated learning approach and the basic ways it can be used in practice in Russian schools (extracurricular classes and project activity of school students) are presented in the paper. The authors rely on the up-to-date researches to describe the process of working with language, speech, sociocultural and learning competences of school students with the use of content and language integrated learning.
