Features of translation of popular science film text from English into Russian

The article raises the problem of translating film texts of popular science genre, in particular its subtype of a feature-documentary film text. On the example of a series of English-language popular science films about wildlife “Serengeti”, the author examines the compositional and linguistic features of such a film text substyle, the main groups of translation transformations into Russian, the bidirectional use of the approximation strategy for associative semantic and translation purposes. A detailed examination of examples of translation transformations highlights the contextual focus of the translation strategy.
