Translation principles of scientific papers: abstracts

The article deals with the stylistic features of abstracts in scientific papers presented in the leading foreign journals. The peculiarities of composition, cohesion, volume of abstracts as well as their structural parts are examined. Examples of the most typical lexical and grammatical means are given. Principles of abstract writing and translation strategy are proposed on the basis of the quantitative analysis results.
