Teaching medieval archaeology of South Siberia at Novosibirsk State University

An important part of the learning process on the archeology of Siberia are the materials of the Middle Ages and modern times. Through the study of this period receives a logical conclusion the process of teaching archeology as a discipline of history provides, a good basis for understanding the development of ethnographic cultures of indigenous peoples in the region. In addition, these materials allow to obtain the competencies required in future professional activities of graduates of a large part. Teams of teachers and scientists of the Novosibirsk State University and the Institute of Archaeology and Ethnography SB RAS has a long experience in teaching materials of studying medieval archaeological sites in the region, mainly the southern part. Main features of this work are broad involvement of study leading scientists from IAET, using the results of our investigations of these objects, including with the participation of students, trainees, as well as the use of large volumes of illustrative materials, often entirely new. During the study of medieval archeology of the region, students not only fulfill the curriculum, but also contribute significantly to solving major scientific problems related to medieval and later history of Siberia, as they participate in ongoing projects for a number of major research programs. Statement of experience in teaching medieval and later archaeological will further enhance the scientific and educational process in training as a historical profile of the university and other universities in Siberia.
