The article considers the stages of professional retraining for teachers of clinical, preclinical and humanitarian departments for working with groups of English-speaking students. It is pointed out that teachers of a medical university have difficulties connected with the use of English in everyday and professional communication. There are also problems associated with methods of planning, preparing for lectures, practical classes and seminars and conducting them; selection, systematization and presentation of educational material; its transformation into presentations; finding keywords of a lesson; making a glossary of a topic or the whole discipline. These are the key directions of a professional retraining course, conducted in the form of group and individual studies. In individual studies, a course participant has a chance to practice skills and knowledge obtained in group studies, using only educational material of one’s discipline in English, and to ask questions on particular moments, reflecting a specific character of the discipline.
