The article deals with the problem of ageism manifestations in the Russian labor market, which has worsened under the influence of a number of factors: increasing the retirement age, transition to the digital economy, automation and robotization of production, increasing the intensity of labor migration. The analysis of domestic and foreign studies revealed the causes of ageism, among which: cult of youth, exaggeration of the severity and significance of age-related physiological changes, change of life priorities, features of intergenerational interaction, decrease in the relevance of existing knowledge among age-related employees. During the analysis of data from Rosstat, Head Hunter, SuperJob and content analysis of 715 vacancy announcements of Sverdlovsk region posted on the regional portals E1 and Work66, manifestations of ageism on the part of employers were found when selecting candidates for a vacant position (the use of filters on specialized portals, veiled indications of the desired age of applicants, limiting vacancies in certain areas of activity, the proposed salary). There are fewer forms of ageism when working directly in the company, which is explained by the satisfaction of employers with employees of older age groups in most cases.
