The research was conducted in 2018, 2020, and 2022 on the central experimental base of V.S. Pustovoit All-Russian Research Institute of Oil Crops, Krasnodar. The purpose of the research was to state regularities of manifestation of main economically valuable traits of the highly oil variety Master during selection of promising families due to the results of their studying in a nursery of progeny estimation. As the initial material we used progenies of individual plants from elite population of the variety Master selected by seed weight from a head, oil content. During a vegetative period, phenological observations and biometric measures due to the common technique were conducted. Oil content in seeds was determined by a method of nuclear magnetic resonance on a NMR-analyzer AVM-1006M due to the State Standard 8.597-2010. As indicators of variability, we used middle, minimal, and maximal meanings of a trait, a range of variability was determined. The changes in the structure population under influence of the selection process were established by distributing the individual families into groups of trait expression. The intensity of rouge-off was determined by the ratio of the number of rouged-off families to the total number in the initial population. It was found that over the years of research, the average yield in the progenies of selected plants was 3.17 t/ha, in the control - 3.02 t/ha; in oil content, respectively, 53.1 and 52.8%. Assessment and selection of the individual plants in the population contributed to the accumulation of highly productive biotypes, which led to an increase in yield by 5 %, compared to the control. The height of the plants and the oil content of the seeds remained almost at the same level as for this variety.
