Features of tourism development in small towns of Russia

A small town is a town with a population of no more than 50 thousand people. The purpose of the study is to analyze the features of tourism development in small towns in Russia. The significance of the need to promote the tourist potential of small towns as a technology for preserving and enhancing the unique cultural heritage of Russia, as well as creating a positive tourist image of Russian regions in the global and domestic tourist markets is substantiated. The factors hindering the development of tourism in small towns in Russia at the present stage are considered. The measures promoting the promotion of a small town as a tourist destination are analyzed. It is concluded that at present the tourist potential of small towns is not fully utilized and in many cases is not considered as a resource for economic development.
