The paper considered a communication framework specific for individuals originated from different cultures, their communication purposes and communicative techniques represented in a multicultural piece of fiction. The study allotted a special place to examination of an artifact of culture as a communicative unit. The fiction pieces by the contemporary American writers of an Asian-American stream, namely «The Joy Luck Club» by A. Tan and «The Blessed House» by J. Lahiri, have served for the source data of research. Studying communication tactics and strategies has drawn attention of linguists since the 1980-ies. A great deal of research papers dealt with the framework of interactive communication considered sequentially in a political and judicial fields of discourse, and an advertising discourse as well. However, for the time being an issue of communication strategies and tactics implemented in a multicultural discourse of fiction (aimed at describing/ examining events of everyday common cross-cultural / interpersonal communication) seems to be still insufficiently covered.
