The article analyzes the features of the use of words containing consonant clusters in the speech of Chinese informants learning Russian as a foreign language. A total of 170 consonant clusters within a text were examined. The article has revealed several phe-nomena in the Chinese learners’ pronunciation, including sound substitution within consonant combinations, consonant elision, vowel insertion, the emergence of addi-tional syllables that alter the rhythmic structure of Russian words, as well as a predom-inance of full pronunciation types of clusters. The findings can be applied to the devel-opment of automatic speech recognition systems and in teaching Russian as a foreign language. The results, based on the analysis of recordings of Russian text pronounced by Chinese speakers, identified specific features of consonant cluster realization.
