Values and value orientations play a crucial role not only in the life of each individual, but also in the life of society as a whole, and they have a primarily integrative function. It is the values that are the basis on which each individual makes their own choices in life. The relevance of the problem of changing the value system of subjects in formalized marital relationships, in terms of human existence is due to the need for scholarly understanding of the phenomenology and determining the patterns of personality co-existence in marital partnership in the socio-cultural transit of modern society. One of the problems with the dissolution of the family institution is the discrepancy between the goals and values of the spouses. However, society and the individual are in any case interested in the marital partnership with the aim of preserving the family institution and its culturally significant aspect in society. To study the change in the values of subjects in the marriage dyad, a study was conducted in which 100 people took part (25 married couples with children and 25 married couples without children). Respondents were offered a method of ranking the system of values, which allowed to diagnose the structure of personal value orientations; questionnaire “Role expectations and claims in marriage”, with the help of which were revealed hierarchies of family values in couples with and without children, as well as draw a conclusion about the socio-psychological compatibility. Comparison of value orientations showed that the value orientation of married couples without children is higher than that of couples with children, whereas comparison of the family value system determined that the following family values are significant for both samples: “External attractiveness”, “Social activity” and “Emotionally - psychotherapeutic”.
