Social-legal protection of childhood in the Republic of Dagestan

The article considers the features of social and legal protection of childhood in the Republic of Dagestan and makes the analysis of problems related to neglected and homeless street children as a result of social, economic and spiritual-moral situation in Russia, characterized by decreased social well-being of families and their life standards, and criminalization of teenagers’ environment. Such situation gives rise to dangerous trends, such as: mass violations of children’s rights, increased juvenile alcohol and drug abuse, psychological and venereal diseases, juvenile criminality, increased criminality among girls and increased numbers of pregnancies among teen-aged girls. The article comes to the conclusion stressing the necessity to enhance the role of organizations involved in adaptation and socialization of socially vulnerable children under the hard conditions of life in the country.
