Contemporary trends and features of Chinese development of secondary and higher education associated with the reform process, which is caused by the contradiction between the new requirements of the hightech smart-economy and industry for graduates and traditional methods of their preparation in the secondary and higher education. The reform of the Chinese education system of the beginning of the 21st century is connected with the comprehension of advanced foreign pedagogical ideas, concepts and applied experience of educational reforms in other countries, and rethinking of the earlier mistakes in the development and implementation of the educational strategies. As a result, the state began updating the educational content, teaching forms and pedagogical methods in the secondary and higher education. The ideology of contemporary Chinese education relies on the values of actual sociocultural space of Chinese civilization, which include value fundamental ideas, concepts and views of traditional Chinese culture, functionally significant of which are the fundamental agenda of Confucianism that are demanding in contemporary society [6]. The article presents the main directions of actual educational policy of China in the process of reforming of the system of the secondary and higher education. Also describes the problems and challenges of reforming of the case. The effectiveness of the higher education reforms in China associated with the implementation of national educational projects of the higher school.
