Features of coping strategies of mothers with different stress levels in the situation of their children's upcoming surgeries

The paper presents the results of an empirical study of stress in mothers in a situation associated with concerns about the life and health of their children who are in the hospital and are waiting for surgery to remove bone neoplasms. It is shown that the stress experienced by mothers is due to the complex nature of the stressful situation, and it does not decrease after successful surgery. The specificity of conjugation of coping strategies and emotion regulation with different levels of perceived stress is revealed. The lack of cognitive reappraisal of the situation leads to an increase in the intensity of the stressful situation. Social distraction is associated with a sense of self-success in countering stress. Avoidance and distraction from the difficulties of the situation, although they help mothers to reduce tension, contribute to the loss of a sense of control over the situation.
