This article analyzes subjective indicators of professional adaptation among education workers. The relevance of this study is due to a number of negative trends observed in the Russian labor market, as well as the high attrition rate of young teachers from the profession. The empirical base is based on data from the Russian Longitudinal Monitoring Survey (LSMS) conducted by the Higher School of Economics, which allows for a comparison of education with other economic sectors, as well as data from a series of in-depth interviews conducted by the author. The results demonstrate a generally high level of satisfaction among education workers with various aspects of their work, which is significantly influenced by external social factors. A more critical attitude toward assessing financial situation, wages, and social status is observed in large cities with a developed labor market and opportunities for job hopping. It is emphasized that satisfaction with teamwork among education workers is largely associated with age characteristics and territorial factors.
