Gastroesophageal reflux disease in diabetic patients

The prevalence of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) was studied in 258 patients with type 1-2 diabetes mellitus. GERD was found in 23.5 and 33.6 per cent of patients with type 1 and type 2 diabetes correspondingly. Frequently GERD in diabetic patients was found to be asymptomatic or less manifested. On the contrary endoscopic findings turned out to be more expressed in nondiabetic individuals. GERD in diabetes was also more often associated with errosive esophagitis В, esophageal ulcers and H.pylory infecting.
