Features of participation of a foreign citizen’s representative in the field of a written crime report

This study focuses on the participation of a foreign citizen as a crime complainant. It is noted that when submitting a written crime complaint to an authorized government agency, a foreign citizen and the official receiving the crime complaint may face several challenges due to the specific nature of a foreign citizen's participation in the criminal process in the Russian Federation (lack of knowledge of the language of criminal proceedings, lack of legal literacy, short-term stay in the Russian Federation, and lack of access to legal representation), which can lead to violations of the rights and legitimate interests of participants in the criminal process. Taking into account the specific features of the participation of foreign citizens in the criminal proceedings of the Russian Federation, it is proposed to introduce amendments and additions to the norms of the Russian criminal procedure law and the relevant provisions regulating the procedure.
