The article considers the features of putting forward and verifying versions. A version is understood as a presumptive judgment not only about the event that has occurred and its individual circumstances, but also about the event that may occur or is already happening at a particular moment or period of time. The possibility of returning a subject of violent criminal act to the crime scene and the inclination shown by him to commit other, subsequent crimes at this place or near it must be taken into account when making versions. A mandatory rule is to check all the proposed versions at the same time. For this purpose it is necessary at the initial stage of the investigation to ensure the production of urgent investigative actions and operational-search activities. Intuition is considered as a result of intense thinking activity, based on a thorough comprehensive analysis of available information, using previous experience and knowledge.
