Introduction. One of the effective models of higher education for students with special educational needs in modern conditions is an inclusive form of education. Inclusive education is actively developing, but professional education today can be called an underdeveloped link in the system of higher education for people with special educational needs due to not quite effective organization of the learning process. Therefore, at present, a discussion of using new opportunities to improve the conditions for training such individuals is of particular relevance. The aim is to develop a structural-functional model of sign language translation and experimentally test its effectiveness. Materials and Methods. The methodological basis for scientific research on this problem included the scientific developments of domestic and foreign researchers. Theoretical (analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization) and empirical (testing, experiment) methods were employed. Results and Discussion. An overview of existing computer sign language translation systems in teaching persons with special educational needs is presented. The characteristics of sign language translation systems and the peculiarities of their implementation in the educational process in the context of a distance learning format are considered. The effectiveness of the implementation of the structural-functional model of sign language translation into sign language is assessed according to the “Dialing” system. Conclusions. The results of the theoretical and practical research enable the author to draw a conclusion about the effectiveness of computer sign language translation systems in the educational process under conditions of distance learning.
