The article examines the factors that cause natural resource conflicts over arable land and pastures. The relevance of this problem lies in the fact that land resources are distributed unevenly around the world; not all countries have sufficient agricultural land to solve the problems of food security and hunger. The emergence of natural resource conflicts is caused not only by geographical, but also by institutional, economic, environmental, social, demographic and historical factors. In countries with an acute shortage of agricultural land, the likelihood of natural resource conflicts is high. The author identified the main sources of conflicts over arable land and pastures. Population growth, environmental, social and other factors will increase the pressure on agricultural land, which will lead not only to deterioration in the quality of land, hunger, but also to the escalation of local conflicts into geopolitical ones.
