The research examines the aspects of the relationship between special school teachers and children with disabilities. In the authors’ opinion, it is important to develop social tolerance in modern teachers that should be based on the willingness of a teacher to accept a student. The above-mentioned relationship is analyzed in the context of schools for visually and hearing-impaired children. The effects of teachers’ negative attitudes towards such children are the psychological problems of children with special needs, the problems of their interpersonal interaction with other students and the professional challenges of teachers. The revealed aspects of teachers’ interaction with students should be a concern of different scopes of psychological adjustment. It is concluded that teachers must develop their psychological health-protection skills in respect of both the students and their own mental health when training to work in the context of inclusive and special education.
