Special types of fan publications

Scholars of book science research concrete books as well as theoretical description of their types, publications made by the “official” publishing as well as self publishing (samizdat), however blogs are rarely studied in this field. Publications of fans are as well rare in the book science. Four types of fan blogs are analyzed from the viewpoint of book science and studies of fan practices. Provided is description of these fan blogs and their characteristics that allow them to be classified as types of publications based on the approach to fan activities and fan blogs developed by the American scholar Paul Booth. The described blogs are aimed at different audiences but use similar instruments of content structuralization and design, such as hashtags and visual references to the object of fan interest. A conclusion is made that fan activities are varied and that they can be analyzed within the framework of book studies along with book publications.
