From the anecdote to the romance

The article deals with genesis and typology of the romance as a genre on the art works by Spanish writer of XVI century Juan Timoneda, who used the anecdote and actually translates it into the romance. We provide a detailed critical review of the scientific tradition. The author argues that the anecdote is main antecedent of the romance, because of their structural similarity: there is a pointe in both genres, that fundamentally changes our point of view on the narrated text, as well as the focus on the individual character as the incident of being, that is the “visit card” of both genres.
