From poetics and contexts to meaning: on possibilities of analysis and interpretation of poetic text

The article reviews the practice of analyzing poetic text. Based on the methods proposed by well-known Russian literary scholars, the author shows how to reveal artistic and eternal existential meanings to schoolchildren by analyzing complex poetic works by Boris Pasternak and Marina Tsvetaeva from the point of view of poetics and contexts. Particular attention is paid to the analysis of motives, images of poems and their poetic structure, as well to close and distant contexts that help to understand the meaning. The article takes into account the understanding of poetry by young readers, the use of reception mechanisms by school teachers of literature.
