From creation to panentheism. On the paper by M. Hanby “Creation without creationism: toward a theological critique of Darwinism”

In his paper, M. Hanby develops new approaches to the theological critique of Darvinism. Instead of analysing scientific facts and theories, he subjects to a doubt the general problem of choice between creationism and evolutionism by pointing out that both belong to the general scientific paradigm of the classical European science. The latter ignores self-being and creativity of created things, in which God is present ‘innermostly’. In our review, we point out that the mode of the God’s presence in created things can be theologically substantiated by the orthodox doctrine of uncreated divine energies. The Hanby’s critique of theological background of modern science concerns with its pretensions to be a universal knowledge, but does not refute theological value of its discoveries that reveal depth of created world order and, in particular, the role of information in biomolecular living systems.
