Selection of the foreign language learning content for the students of the linguistics faculty

The problem of the foreign language learning content for the students of the Linguistics faculty based on the new educational standards is considered in the article. The authors describe and analyze the main components of the learning content: linguistic, psychological and methodological ones. After analyzing new requirements to the professional education the authors offer to include linguo-cultural concepts into the foreign language learning content. They give the definition of concept, describe the principles of its selection and offer some new principles of selecting foreign language concepts. The authors prove that to study foreign language concepts it is necessary to use the texts that contain some cultural concepts. The texts are selected on the basis of special principles. The authors point out that the process of foreign language concept acquisition is connected with skills and abilities formation of concept competence. The importance of concept competence formation is stressed. Concept competence is both the goal and means of the foreign language teaching of students of the Linguistics faculty. The authors describe the methods and ways of foreign language concept acquisition. The results of the research can be used in the theory and practice of foreign language teaching.
