The article presents an analysis of the set of various character variations proposed by the ancient thinker Theophrastus. Putting forward a hypothesis about the importance of accurately determining individual traits of a person's character in working with the personnel of internal affairs bodies, the authors focus on a general understanding of the essential foundations that characterize his personality and the need for each employee to form the correct attitude to the need for constant and systematic work on oneself, including including taking into account some of the conclusions and recommendations of prominent representatives of world thought.
