Distinctive features of the socialist revolution in the Marxist paradigm: theory and modernity

The article explores the Marxist understanding of social and political revolutions. It is emphasized that the word “revolution” is currently filled with many unscientific interpretations. From the standpoint of historical and materialist methodology, the definition of the indicated phenomena is given, the features of the socialist revolution and the problems of the formation of the communist formation arising from them are noted. The author updates Stalin's distinguishing features of the socialist revolution from those of previous revolutions, comments on these theoretical generalizations, and attempts to link them to a critical understanding of the revolutionary experience of the XXth century. The conclusion dwells upon socialism as its result in the USSR, a unique practice of conscious choice of social formation in the context of a large state, aimed at achieving true freedom at the expense of arbitrary change of circumstances in order to create favorable conditions for human existence.
