Youth Attitudes Toward the Prospects of Impact Investing Development in Russia

Impact investing remains a complex and understudied topic in Russian academic literature, despite the growing number of scholarly works published on this subject in recent years. There is even less consolidation of practical experience in impact investing in Russia. Behavioral expertise regarding the value orientations of Russians in the field of impact investing is notably absent. This article presents selected results of an original sociological survey aimed at exploring the readiness of retail investors (individuals) to participate in impact investing. The findings of the behavioral analysis are provided, describing behavioral patterns that characterize the investment behavior of young people aged 18 to 23. The study highlights differences in investment approaches within this age group compared to the broader sample of respondents. It also identifies fundamental and instrumental factors shaping the behavioral orientations of youth toward impact investing. Specific recommendations are proposed for developing a national strategy to promote impact investing, aimed at achieving the objectives of national projects. The article holds practical significance for participants in the investment sector, as well as for researchers and practitioners interested in innovative investment approaches focused on the sustainable development of Russian society.
