Public attitudes towards environmental initiatives (case study of Yakutsk)

A sociological survey of public attitudes towards environmental initiatives carried out on the territory of the municipal entity Yakutsk City is carried out in this paper. As part of it, the author carried out an analysis of the respondents’ answers, which revealed the general attitude of the population to environmental initiatives, identified those who, according to the citizens, are responsible for the environmental position of the municipality, established the general awareness of residents about environmental events and actions, in particular studied their awareness of the separate collection of recyclable waste. In addition, the survey data shows a positive attitude towards environmental initiatives. There is a correlation between the area of residence and satisfaction with the environmental situation within it. Research findings can be applied to the work of the executive authorities responsible for implementing the region’s environmental policy.
