Library and information department students’ attitude to the course “Information culture of personality” (based on survey materials)

The article presents the results of Moscow State Institute of Culture the library and information faculty students’ survey, conducted to study their attitude to the academic discipline “Information culture of personality”, which was taught to them in the first semester of the 2023 2024 academic year. 34 first year students in the areas of “Library and Information Science”, “Document Science” and “Museum Studies”, took part in it. It was found that initially half of them had certain prejudices regarding this academic discipline, but in the process of getting acquainted with the course, the respondents’ attitude changed significantly. The investigation also made it possible to identify the topics of the course “Information culture of personality” which were of the greatest and of the least interest to students. The most interesting tasks for students were those of a creative nature, such as composing web texts, and the least interesting were those requiring strict adherence to algorithms, in particular, searching for information in electronic scientific libraries.
