Attitudes of students of the Surgut State Pedagogical University towards individuals with limited health capacities: experience of sociological research

This paper analyses the results of a sociological study of the attitudes of students at the Surgut State Pedagogical University towards the physically challenged. The relevance of the research topic is explained both by the development of civic institutions and by the emergence of new normative and legal documents in terms of ensuring conditions and realizing the rights of individuals with limited health capacities. Based on the materials of the author's research, the issues of students' attitudes towards the designated category of individuals, opportunities for higher education, awareness of the state program “Accessible Environment” and its significance, and adaptation to society are considered. It is concluded that the students of the Surgut State Pedagogical University have a positive attitude towards individual with limited health capacities, are generally ready to provide them with multifaceted assistance and support the idea of equal rights and the integration of such individuals into modern society.
