Reflection of life of the Ural Cossacks in V. I. Dahl's works

The article is about life of the Ural Cossacks of the 19 century in works of Russian writer, ethnographer, lexicographer Vladimir I. Dahl. He has arrived to Orenburg in 1833y. and taken an official post for 8 years. The issues of social structure always concerned him, when he lived in capital and when he moved to the outskirts of the Russian Empire. The results of studying the texts «The letter to Grechu from Uralsk», sketch «Ural Cossack» and legend «Polunoshnik» was shown in this article. Dahl had curious and non-indifferent character, so the issues of life organization, management and traditional way concerned him. The author notes Dahl’s attention to Ural River is only and main source of economic welfare. The author emphasizes lack of land causes careful attitude to the River. These original events of the Ural Cossacks life found reflection both, piece of arts and publicizm. The author has studied works of historians, writers of that time for fidelity assessment of reflected events.
