The author analyzed the leading ideas of the scientific and pedagogical activity of Lesgaft acording to the memoirs of his students and followers. The information basis of the article is the publication of 1912 «in Memory of Peter Lesgaft», which presents a bright and multi-faceted image of the outstanding Russian scientist. The main directions of the scientific search of p. Lesgaft which his contemporaries considered to be the most significant in the creative heritage of the scientist and teacher were highlighted.
