The article is devoted to the problem of memory of the Second World War. The purpose of the research is to analyze various approaches to the study of historical memory in a political and socio - cultural context. The goal is to show how the technologies of "forgetting" and "remembering" proposed by the German historian and cultural critic A. Assman are applied to the memory of the war. The object of research is the phenomenon of historical memory. The subject of the research is methods of correction of collective historical memory. The article compares approaches to the study of historical memory and the practice of transforming the memory of the war in Germany, Great Britain and Russia. The research hypothesis is that the technologies of "forgetting" and "remembering" are actively used to transform the memory of the Second World War. In Germany, memorial culture became the basis for the formation of national self-consciousness after World War II. Recently, attempts have been made to correct collective memory in order to overcome the national guilt complex. British scientists focus on the social and economic reasons that make modern Britons nostalgic for the Second World War. Unlike the Germans, the British do not have a traumatic memory of the war; memories of victory and a sense of national unity are a kind of psychotherapy during the economic crisis and are associated with the loss of Empire complex. Since the 2010s, there has been a fundamental change in the attitude of historical memory in Russia. Not only state policy is changing, but also the information space, which is developing largely spontaneously under the influence of the digital revolution. According to the author, the situation in Russia is developing in the direction of the "Dialogic memory" model by A. Assman. Knowledge of technologies for transforming historical memory makes it possible to influence these processes more effectively from the point of view of national interests. The results of the research can be used in various areas related to the formation of historical memory - Museum and exhibition activities, educational process, Internet information projects, design projects.
