The article analyzes the views of the Tatar religious figure of the late 19th - early 20th centuries AbdurashidIbragimov, who held the post of imam of the mosque in Tara, Tobolsk province and qazi of the Orenburg Mohammedan Spiritual Assembly, based on a number of his works that have not previously been translated into Russian. He discusses the fate and future of Muslims living in the Russian Empire, and these views are openly anti Russian. Being a supporter of the idea of pan Islamism, he was in opposition to the imperial and Bolshevik governments, and became one of the first successful preachers of Islam in Japan. Meanwhile, it is alarming that today his works are republished in the Tatar language, scientific and practical conferences are held in his honor, and modern researchers of his biography strive to create a positive reputation for him. This article is an attempt to give an objective assessment of the political views of A. Ibragimov.
