A special feature of the current Russian reality is the growing interest in the study of the driving forces of social development, and competitiveness is one of them. Competition exists in every sphere of human life. The forms of its manifestation are diverse: regulated and latent, open and hidden, individual and group, constructive and destructive, etc. In this regard, it is important to analyze and identify competitive forms, determine and use their potential in the context of regulating social processes, at least in an evaluative-reflexive format. The authors focus on the parameters of competitiveness as an object of practical and cognitive activity. The following parameters of competitiveness (they are also parameters of competitive regulation) are identified: target orientation, subject orientation, status orientation, extra / intra orientation, balance, commensuration, quantitative representation, qualitative composition, competitive space, boundaries, normativity, intensity, dynamism, transparency, reverberation. These parameters of competitiveness make it possible to specify its social and managerial potential and directions for its purposeful use.
