Park tourism as a direction for tourist territories development

The development of national and urban parks not only contributes to the implementation of national projects aimed at improving the infrastructure for the local population, but also helps to attract tourists by including unique sites in tourist programs. In turn, many parks are the primary tourist attraction that draws visitors to a particular area, and their maintenance, preservation, and promotion will contribute to an increase in tourist arrivals. The development of park tourism will help to increase the share of tourism in the country’s GDP, which aligns with the target set by the President’s Decree on the National Development Goals. A huge number of studies have been conducted on the tourism development and its impact on the economy of territories, but relatively few studies have been conducted on the tourism development in national parks, and no studies have been conducted on the development of urban park tourism. The paper reflects legislative acts and projects related to the importance, improvement, and development of national and urban parks. It highlights parks that have been popular for a long time, as well as new park projects. The author proposes ideas for creating urban theme parks and provides recommendations for including visits to national parks in tourist programs. The paper also outlines directions for developing tourist territories based on the positioning and promotion of parks.
