The author of the article draws attention to the fact that the first original component of Russian literature is the Metropolitan Hilarion's Paschal sermon, and the most popular gospel is the Gospel of John, the beginning of which is always read in churches on the first day of Easter. Based on this, the author of the article asserts that the dominant feature of Russian culture and Russian literature is a special Easter archetype. The author shows how exactly the Easter archetype determines the structure of B. Pasternak's novel Doctor Zhivago, starting from the burial place and ending with the words about the resurrection and appearance before God. The theme of Pasternak's novel, hidden in his poetics, is a pilgrimage to Christ, which, according to the author's intention, is committed by every reader of the novel.
