The Altai poet and translator Vasily Tordoevich Samykov (pseudonym - Pasley Samyk), who turned 80 this year, revived and transformed Altai poetry of the second half of the 20th century with his bright and unique voice. His lyrics go back to the Altai folklore, at the same time it has a craving for European and Eastern culture. Hence the scale of his thinking, the philosophy of his poetry. The article reveals the features of his talent, originality of the poetic picture of the world. His poetry is largely based on the genres of good wishes and folk songs of the Altaians, from which the poet drew spring freshness and purity. The hyperbolization of images and symbols in his poetry goes back to the heroic epic. Particular attention is paid to the translation of P. Samyk into the native language of Turkic and foreign poetry.
