The study discusses the author’s approach to solving the urgent problem of identifying the nature, content and methods of pedagogical diagnosis of the constructive parental position of fathers of high school students and the development on this basis of pedagogical conditions for the formation of this position. The results of pedagogical diagnostics of the features of the parental position of high schoolers’ fathers are presented, reflecting its destructive tendencies, manifested in the stereotypical perception by fathers of their roles and functions of a parent, their limited influence on the formation of the high school student’s personality, and dismissal from contacts with teachers of high school students. The problems and difficulties of high school teachers in organizing interactions with high school fathers are studied, which is expressed in most fathers’ absence of interest in contacts with children’s teachers, a low degree of readiness to carry out their parental functions. The diagnostic tools developed by the authors, aimed to identify the characteristics of the parental position of fathers of high school students, can be used in the educational process of educational organizations.
