Pedagogical thought as a phenomenon of the development of pedagogical science

The article is devoted to the formation of pedagogical science in the development of educational thought in the history of human society. Theoretical understanding of pedagogical activity began in ancient Greece in the 5th century BC. In the 17th century J.A. Comenius considered pedagogy as a special branch of knowledge. At the beginning of the 19th century I. Herbart attempted to study pedagogy as a separate science. In the third quarter of the 19th century K. D. Ushinskiy gave an anthropological justification of pedagogy. In the last third of the 19th - early 20th centuries pedagogy was placed on an experimental basis. However, until now there is debate about the scientific status of pedagogy.
