The article analyzes different types of pedagogical ideas, their role in the history of pedagogy. All pedagogical ideas are inevitably filled with value attitudes toward the pedagogical reality. The semantic structure of a pedagogical idea appears as a synthesis of definitions, objectives, and requirements. The history of pedagogical ideas is the subject of the modern historical and pedagogical knowledge connected with the study of development, distribution, communication and transformation of various products of the thinking work in intellectual and pedagogical culture of mankind from ancient times to nowadays.
