Pedagogical innovations of the past: the experience of Jesuit colleges

The article deals with some methods of training and education used in Jesuit colleges in the XVI century. The school statute of the Society of Jesus - Ratio Studiorum is used as a source. According to the author, the Jesuit pedagogical technique, being versatile and progressive for its time, and today can be considered as innovative. Among the methods of teaching the Jesuits used competition, encouragement, rating technologies, etc. It is possible to assume that thanks to it, collegiums showed the high efficiency in preparation not only priests, but also secular functionaries.
