The article considers the problem of forming the value attitude of students to folk art, and also identifies pedagogical principles of forming the value attitude of students to folk art, including the principle of «living participation», the principle of historicism, the principle of harmony of spiritual, moral, physical in man, the principle of studying the cultural heritage of the Russian people, the principle of integrity of worldview, unity of tasks of learning and development integrity in understanding the unity and harmony of nature and man.
