Pedagogical conditions for teaching students' being patriotic: theory and practice

The problem of teaching youth being patriotic is a priority in state and educational policies as socio-economic situation both in the country and the world is aggravated. Patriotism is a socio-moral, spiritual value, a national idea, the basis for the development of Russian statehood. Thus, to organize purposeful work to educate citizens to have an active social, civic and patriotic position, to focus on protecting their Fatherland is necessary. It can be done via folk and museum pedagogy taking into account social and cultural environment. In this regard, one of the tasks of the higher education system is to identify the pedagogical conditions for growing patriotism among young people who would be ready to transform the region and the Motherland in line with the spiritual values of their nation and the moral ideals of the mankind. The study aims to identify, substantiate and implement the pedagogical conditions to teach students' patriotism. To achieve this goal literature analysis, a questionnaire, pedagogical observation, and the method of interviews were used. The author defined the methodological approaches to develop patriotic qualities of a person (personality-oriented, value-semantic and integrative-activity approaches); clarified the key concepts of “patriotism”, “citizenship”, “civic-patriotic education”; identified the pedagogical conditions for teaching students' being patriotic: 1) the inclusion of students in project activities, 2) the integration of classroom and extracurricular activities of students; identified project learning as one of the most effective technologies for teaching young people being patriotic.
