Rebuilding the idea of the university

The modern world is dynamic and complex in its development, constantly transforming. The post-industrial era, oriented towards the market and digital technologies, has required significant changes in the organization of activities and interactions of social institutions. Being one of the fundamental institutions of society, education is no exception in this regard. The formed context of education directly affects its actors, one of which is the university. On the one hand, it obeys the logic of the development of social reality, on the other hand, it actively influences it. The use of market mechanisms forces the classical university to accept the requirements of the principles of “product” thinking in the production of knowledge and human capital. The university unites with business, focuses on consumption, constantly reassembling the educational landscape and searching for pedagogical technologies, and as a result begins to act as an enterprise. Business feels the need to interfere in the activities of the university, offering to organize a management system for it as a manufacturing corporation, and creates its own universities. Digital equipment and technologies acquire the status of integral participants in the educational process, actively participating in the organization of the university’s life in the logic of the digital code, gradually begin to compete with the usual space for organizing the educational process of the classical university, displacing the direct interaction of the teacher and student. The search for knowledge is replaced by the search for information. The dictatorship of market standards and new technologies does not always lead to an increase in the efficiency of the educational process. The main purpose of the university remains unchanged - preserving the spirit of freedom and shaping a person.
