Translation of W. Thackeray’s novel "Vanity fair" into Russian: M. Dyakonov’s forenization strategy

The article examines the specifics of implementing the foreignization strategy in the translation of W. Thackeray's English-language novel "Vanity Fair" into Russian by M. Dyakonov. A comparative analysis of English-language fragments containing culturally specific elements and corresponding fragments of the translation into Russian is carried out. The role of the lexical and grammatical environment of realia, the macro-context of the work, as well as the presence of notes to the translation of the novel are taken into account.
