Translation of General epistles is the second great work we have done after the translation of the Corpus of St. John. Recall that the peculiarity of this translation is that the Greek Majority text is chosen as the basis for it (the Majority text is an ancient Byzantine text accepted for the Orthodox worship). Meanwhile, almost all modern Russian translations of the Holy Scriptures are based on the critical texts of Nestle-Aland. Another feature of this translation is the text footnotes - both textual and exegetical content. In order to avoid translation subjectivity, we use all the comments of early Christian exegetes known to us. The work on improving our translations is a continuous process in which the author invites the grateful reader to participate. Since our translation claims to be literal, perhaps the reader will find it interesting to compare it with the interlinear translations of the V. R. Zhuromsky and Russian Bible Society. Our attempt to accurately convey the Greek constructions - syntax and verb forms - is, in our opinion, an attempt to help the reader fulfill the Lord’s commandment to study the Scriptures (John 5:39). Literary elaborated texts of modern translations deprive the reader of such on opportunity.
