This article continues a series of articles devoted to the theology of history. The question of the periodization of the patristic thought of the second millennium generally goes beyond traditional pathological courses and studies. The standard variant of the study of patristic thought presupposes the division into “classical” patrology, which studies the development of Greek and (partly Latin and Syrian) thought and contribution of the Holy Fathers in the construction and historical life of the Church and ends in the 15th century, and Russian patrology, presented as an autonomous subject “National” or local meaning. The article makes an attempt to look integrally at the question of periodization of this least studied period in the patrologic sense, taking into account the general processes taking place in the life and history of the “Catholic” Church.
